Let me talk about subsidies! It doesnt take an economist to know that the removal of subsidies wasnt taken in a proper way. I took part in the economic census of 2010 and I got to know how poor the people of zambia are. World bank says most zambians live on $1 per day. My analysis is that they live on 50c per day. Its quite a hard thing to fend for themselves. They struggle to get their hands on mealie meal. Am saying this from experience. Here comes a gvt that squashes subsidies overnight. Hiking fuel and mealie meal prices. Realistic speaking, its so heartless. I say subsidies should have been removed sequentially so as to help the poor adapt to new conditions. Zambians are held by their neck because of PFs doing. Look at the fuel prices, they have sky-rocketed to unbearable prices. World fuel prices reduced by about 30% and ours reduce by 8%. Even that small reduction is not felt by a common zambian because transport fares are still the same. How much money has gone towards PF-created by-elections? Thats an issue I dont want to talk about because it raises my temper and breaks my heart. A well meaningful zambian will think carefully before voting. Who would want such a legacy to continue? Is that person a real zambian? Friends lets wake up!
