Let me try this for Tony, Andy, Scott, and others. Once upon a - TopicsExpress

Let me try this for Tony, Andy, Scott, and others. Once upon a time the Senate decided it wanted to make beer the national beverage. Many in the House fussed because they wanted only artisan and craft beer to be included. A small group decided that all beer was evil and the entire country should be tea-totalers. Compromise happened, the law passed with all beers included, an election reinforced the idea, except for a very few seats, and the Supreme Court, declared the law Constitutional. Now this small group of Tea-totalers was very angry. They recruited a few more people and refused to allow democracy to proceed by refusing to pass a budget. They claimed that the pro-beer MAJORITY refused to compromise. What compromise did they want? To cancel the beer bill and make everyone drink water. A few wild-eyed folks who listen only to themselves have decided that they are a majority in the face of polls, facts, and figures that say otherwise. These folks are willing to risk the very foundation of our democracy to make their point. Do you get it now guys? Majority rule does not mean taking the government hostage when you lose.
