Let the JOURNEY begin. The much awaited (especially by the boys, I think), 21 day Fish River Journey, from the source to the mouth, began yesterday for all the Grade 10 kids from SAC & DSG. The journey includes hiking, cycling, running, canoeing, & community service, plus 18 hours completely solo in the African wilderness. Lets hope those puff-adders stay far away! The weather, true to form, was foul yesterday, with extreme storms & rain. There is now potentially snow, or at least very chilly temps on the way, & all the Mums are realising that, in the interests of keeping the weight of the backpacks down to a minimum, the kids clothing is perhaps not warm enough to cater for this. The sleeping bags will have to do! Character building indeed :) Not much we can do about it now, as there is no contact with any of them until the end - good luck kids!!!
