“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14) Missionaries often work with children, and it doesn’t take long to realize that they are precious to the Lord and have a special place in our Father’s heart. As our preschool class took a break for cookies and a drink, it started to rain. And it rained hard. The children began fussing about the rain, and I stopped them by telling them, “We need the rain. Without the rain there would be no flour and sugar and the other things which we need to have cookies to eat.” One little boy piped up, “I saw a cookie tree once.” All the children started making fun of him, telling him that couldn’t be true. One little boy asked him, “Why didn’t you pick one?” The original storyteller turned to the boy with disgust. “They weren’t ripe yet, ya dummy!” It had been such a blessing to visit churches where my husband and I ministered. These children are now all grown-up serving as leaders and pastors.
