Let us be that change! Please follow this very carefully. Let us go the near by post office and post this letter to the addresses attached. And also mail the same through your email address. Imagine around 500 to 1000 letters going onto the desks/tables of President of India, Modi, Smriti Irani, UGC etc. And also NDTV, TIMES NOW, CNN IBN etc. Just spare some time in doing this. Just spare some in granting Justice. Just spare some time to punish those irresponsible bastards. If required make some necessary changes. Please pass this to as many students as you can and ask them to do the same. Place: Date: To The Responsible Servant of India, India. Sir/Madam, SUB: Strongly condemning and highlighting the atrocities, brutalities and Clinical Negligence shown by the authorities of Central University of Karnataka, Gulbarga, towards the students also the death of Md. Chand Alam. Sir/Madam, this letter is being written to you collectively by all the students of the University. Herein we would like to highlight the series of issues that we have been coming across or facing at various times at various academic levels. 1. Let us startup with a recently emerged issue. I.e., death of a B.Tech first year student Md. Chand Alam. He has come all the way from Bihar to do his B.Tech and unfortunately he has happened to meet death without completing his degree. Sir/Madam, it was on 17th Oct 2014 he has fallen ill and has visited University Health Center. After the checkup, the doctor in the health center has given him certain medicine and had advised him to take rest promising him of getting well in a couple of days. As per the doctor’s advice, Md. Chand Alam has taken the medicine and has started taking the rest. After a couple of days, at midnight around 12 AM we have happened to see him unconscious. Sir/Madam, our university is around 30 kms away from the nearby Gulbarga city. We have tried calling wardens, Dean Student Welfare (Ganesh Pawar) and Registrar (Naga Raju) too for a vehicle to be sent. We do not have any ambulance facility in the campus. But none of them has responded. Rather they said “we cannot do anything and our vehicles are out of fuel.” Somehow we have managed to get a vehicle only after two hours i.e., at 2AM. He was immediately admitted in the Chirayu Hospital, Gulbarga. He was treated there till 12PM on 23rd Oct 2014. His condition was getting worse day by day in the hospital too. Later on, as per the doctors’ advice of Chirayu hospital he was taken to Yashoda Super Speciality hospital, Hyderabad. Sir, unfortunately we have lost him there at the hospital in Hyderbad. Md. Chand Alam is no more. Though these many incidents happened between, neither VC (IC) nor Registrar M.N.S Roa had turned up till date. 2. Sir/Madam, many issues are related with the death of Md. Chand Alam. Doctors have certified that this has happened due to hepatitis-e infection and food poisoning. District health officers has confirmed that “the drinking water quality in the university hostels is so full of pathogens and is no more safe for drinking which is causing the students to fall ill very frequently.” 3. Sir/Madam, around 30 students have been admitted and discharged from Chirayu Hospital, Gulbarga so far in the month of October itself. Apart from this innumerable amount of students have fallen ill since the university started keeping their residents in the campus hostels. It is not that the authorities in the university are not aware of this. We have approached them several times stating, “Students are falling ill every now and then-Please do something.” But they haven’t paid any heed towards us which has laid the way for the death of Md. Chand Alam and hospitalization many students. 4. Sir/Madam, we must tell you that Md. Chand Alam was a bright student. He hails from a very poor family. It was his university that has killed him. Please focus. The doctor in the health center is also very pathetic that he gives away the same medicine to all kinds of symptoms that students show up. Sir/Madam, herein we humbly request you to appoint a high level inquiry committee probing to the death of Md Chand Alam, B.Tech student and also on the appointment of Doctor in the University Health Center. It is up to you to act accordingly. 5. We would also like to bring to your kind notice that University has collected a sum of Rs 500/- annually towards medical insurance from every student that include all the medical expenses nearing Rs 2, 00,000/- per every student. But, this is not been followed. Sir/Madam, since all the medical emergencies happen so suddenly that the fellow students bear the expenses rather than waiting for the insurance. Later on, the expenses are not returned as well. So, where is our Rs 500/- going. Whom we must approach. Vice Chancellor (I/C) - Prof. M.N.S Rao never pays any attention though we have taken this to him many times. 6. Sir/Madam, to the best of our knowledge we are conveying the truth. Please be needy in providing Justice to the life of Md. Chand Alam and his family. It is solely because of irresponsibility and negligence of the university officials. They are not here to safeguard us rather to see us being killed by contaminated water and unhealthy food. 7. And also university has declared 17 days holidays for getting the issue submerged and forgotten by everyone. Sir/Madam, here everyone is culprit. Including VC, Registrar, DSW etc. We demand a compensation to the family of the student. We expect the authorities concerned shall look into the issue and understand the gravity of the situation, keeping the above mentioned points in view and act accordingly.
