Leticia Lopez My passion, faith and sport have taken me to new places the last three years. After being busy with work completing a Master in Educational Administration and being a school teacher, I decided to get active with a past passion and cycling was it. The last time I had done that activity was in my late teens as my 10 speed bike was stolen. I thank Mark Pena of Edinburg for welcoming me into the Ciclistas Urbanos group and sharing with me the basics of riding on the road. Within three months I joined the 5AM Wake-Up Ride where I was kindly welcomed by Ramon and Irma Hermida lending me their spare road bike to be able to stay up with the group. While being part of the 5AM cycling group, I have joined other cycling teams around the area such as Bike Masters and Team McAllen Cyling where I have continued to improve my cycling experience. It has been wonderful to ride out with different cycling groups not only to enjoy the sport but to build friendly relationships with the same passion of riding a bike. Having become a avid cyclist I began to want to devote the cycling sport and pedal for important causes which I have done in our area here in the Rio Grande Valley. Recently I have gone out to participate in bike events in the Houston area such as the Tour de Cure American Diabetes Association event. In addition to cycling, I enjoy fishing, target shooting, swimming and trail running. Being a Christian by faith, I have recognized God’s ample opportunities to observe the wonder of life as I remain involved in various physical activities. I have been spared of death twice in two automobile accidents years ago where I was involved with broken ankles, a right knee and other injured body parts. I thank God every day for his love, his mercy and his grace over me. His fidelity is forevermore and I pray He keeps me in motion on what really matters in life, Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good spirit lead me on level ground. -Psalm 143:10.
