Lets all buy a raffle ticket--- At the request of Assistant Chief Ella Colman, Walter and Alma Johnson of Shawnee, OK, designed and made this “Sacrifices Remembered” queen-size quilt top for the Seminole Nation – City of Wewoka Veterans Day Celebration scheduled for Saturday, November 9, 2013. The quilt is being raffled by the Seminole Nation Museum and proceeds benefit the Veterans Day Celebration. Chances are $10 each and are available at the Museum. You do not have to be present to win. The colors in the quilt depict the Vietnam War ribbon colors. Walter is a descendent of the Seminole Nation and Absentee Shawnee Tribe and Alma is a descendent of the Chickasaw and Cherokee Nations. The Johnsons have made several quilts for a number of veterans’ organizations. One of their quilts was featured in “Quilts Across America” and their Oklahoma 45th Infantry Division Quilt was sent to our troops in Afghanistan.
