Lets be tacky and talk money: would you pay $250 to see The Crane Wives play at your house? Is that asking too much from every-day Joes? If so, what do you think would be a reasonable price? The reason house concerts are kind of disparaging is because a band of 5 people cant make enough money to support themselves. It rarely makes economical sense for us to play house shows over doing other performances. Unfortunately, the biggest challenge of being an artist is struggling to make ends meet. But that doesnt mean we dont want people to be able to have us play at their houses. We also dont want to undervalue ourselves and our work. Being a musician is expensive, and most of the work we do is entirely unpaid (we dont get paid to practice, we dont get paid to write). Help us out here. Give us some insight!
