Lets do a quick one today... Although the term Close-Grip Bench Press infers you should have your hands as close together as possible... That is VERY stressful to the wrists... Lie on the bench, place your arms and elbows down at your side about where you want them to land when you do the exercise... Now rotate your shoulders up to the bar. Right there, where your hands land, is where you want to grip the bar... The importance of a Close-Grip Bench Press is that the elbows go down and past your sides and the bar comes down to but does not bounce off of the bottom of the sternum. This make it a triceps exercise and although you have no choice but to use some pectorals in this move the weight and the position of the humerus bones distribute the weight so that the triceps do most of the action... If your hands are too far apart you will not be able to keep the elbows in at your side and your chest will do more of the lift... If your hands are too close your wrists will hurt and your hands will literally get in the way of you lowering the weights all the way for full range of motion... le voie du BEAST
