Lets get one thing straight. You never get what you deserve in life ... you get what you negotiate. So if wages, class size and composition, massage, physio, medical and dental benefits are something individuals in an organization feel are important ... then a gain in one area, will be a loss in another. In a fairly, but toughly negotiated contract the bottom line will still be approximately the same. Ive always enjoyed my medical, dental and retirement benefits, but I know in gaining those benefits other demands/requests were reduced during NEGOTIATIONS. If abiding by 2 court rulings and prioritizing the provincial budget to reflect the value of education, then the Liberal government will return to tough, but fair, bargaining with the BCTF and come up with a fairly negotiated settlement before even more of the school year is lost.
