Lets grow up HEBREWS 6:1-3 = Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit. (CEV) HEBREWS 6:1-3 = We must try to become mature and start thinking about more than just the basic things we were taught about Christ. We shouldnt need to keep talking about why we ought to turn from deeds that bring death and why we ought to have faith in God. 2 And we shouldnt need to keep teaching about baptisms or about the laying on of hands or about people being raised from death and the future judgment. 3 Lets grow up, if God is willing. CEV Ecc_10:17 But a nation will prosper when its ruler is mature. 1Co_2:6 We do use wisdom when speaking to people who are mature in their faith. But it isnt the wisdom of this world or of its rulers, who will soon disappear. 1Co_2:6 We teach wisdom to people who are mature, but the wisdom we teach is not from this world. It is not the wisdom of the rulers of this world, who are losing their power. 1Co_14:20 My friends, stop thinking like children. Think like mature people and be as innocent as tiny babies. Eph_4:13 This will continue until we are united by our faith and by our understanding of the Son of God. Then we will be mature, just as Christ is, and we will be completely like him. Php_3:15 All of us who are mature should think in this same way. And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear to you. Col_1:28 We announce the message about Christ, and we use all our wisdom to warn and teach everyone, so that all of Christs followers will grow and become mature. Col_1:28 So we continue to tell people about Christ. We use all wisdom to counsel every person and teach every person. We are trying to bring everyone before God as people who have grown to be spiritually mature in Christ. Heb_5:14 Solid food is for mature people who have been trained to know right from wrong. Jas_1:4 But you must learn to endure everything, so that you will be completely mature and not lacking in anything. Jas_1:4 If you let that patience work in you, the end result will be good. You will be mature and complete. You will be all that God wants you to be. Php_3:15 All of us who have grown to be spiritually mature should think this way too. And if there is any of this that you dont agree with, God will make it clear to you. Col_4:12 Epaphras, another servant of Jesus Christ from your group, sends his greetings. He constantly struggles for you in prayer. He prays that you will grow to be spiritually mature and have everything that God wants for you. Heb_6:1 So we should be finished with the beginning lessons about Christ. We should not have to keep going back to where we started. We began our new life by turning away from the evil we did in the past and by believing in God. Thats when we were taught about baptisms, laying hands on people, the resurrection of those who have died, and the final judgment. Now we need to go forward to more mature teaching. ISAIAH 28:9 = Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? [them that are] weaned from the milk, [and] drawn from the breasts. (ASV) Whom will he teach knowledge? and whom will he make to understand the message? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts? I CORINTHIANS 3:1-7 = And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, [even] as unto babes in Christ. 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able [to bear it], neither yet now are ye able. 3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas [there is] among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? 4 For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I [am] of Apollos; are ye not carnal? 5 Who then is Paul, and who [is] Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. I PETER 2:1-2 = Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (CEV) Stop being hateful! Quit trying to fool people, and start being sincere. Dont be jealous or say cruel things about others. Be like newborn babies who are thirsty for the pure spiritual milk that will help you grow and be saved. (ERV) So then, stop doing anything to hurt others. Dont lie anymore, and stop trying to fool people. Dont be jealous or say bad things about others. Like newborn babies hungry for milk, you should want the pure teaching that feeds your spirit. With it you can grow up and be saved. II PETER 3:18 = But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen. (CEV) Let the wonderful kindness and the understanding that come from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ help you to keep on growing. Praise Jesus now and forever! Amen. HEBREWS 5:12-14 = For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which [be] the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk [is] unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, [even] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. I TIMOTHY 3:6 = Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Novice = a new convert, (one who has recently become a Christian) (GNB) He must be mature in the faith, so that he will not swell up with pride and be condemned, as the Devil was. EPHESIANS 4:11-15 = And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ: (ISV) Instead, by speaking the truth in love, we will grow up completely and become one with the head, that is, one with the Messiah, ROMANS 8:29 = For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate [to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. MALACHI 4:1-3 = For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do [this], saith the LORD of hosts. II PETER 1:5-10 = And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: CEV 2Pe 1:5-11 Do your best to improve your faith. You can do this by adding goodness, understanding, 6 self-control, patience, devotion to God, 7 concern for others, and love. 8 If you keep growing in this way, it will show that what you know about our Lord Jesus Christ has made your lives useful and meaningful. 9 But if you dont grow, you are like someone who is nearsighted or blind, and you have forgotten that your past sins are forgiven. 10 My friends, you must do all you can to show that God has really chosen and selected you. If you keep on doing this, you wont stumble and fall. 11 Then our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will give you a glorious welcome into his kingdom that will last forever. You cant expect a baby to be borne a man. Its got to grow to it. And we grow in Christ to the full statue of Jesus Christ.
