Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allahs rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven. Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, Anyone who fasts for one day for Allahs sake, Allah will keep his face away from the Hellfire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years.
