Lets see, three dead at Fort Hood when a disturbed soldier with a pistol ran amok; 22 wounded when a 16-year-old rampaged through his school in Pennsylvania slashing and stabbing fellow students with two knives; and yesterday, a white supremacist murdered three people at a Jewish Community Center and a Jewish home for the elderly in Kansas. In other words, more or less a normal week in this country in which mass killings have become a regular affair. Many more Americans die in these home grown slaughters than from terrorism, which is the only phenomenon our security folks ever seem to focus on. When it comes to these events, we get 24/7 coverage and then we just pass on to other things as both the police and the citizenry up-armor without much discussion.
