Lets take things at face value for a moment. While there is every likelihood that the White House conspired with the IRS, there is insufficient evidence to go forward with this. This leaves an equally, if not more frightening prospect: The IRS has determined that they are the law unto themselves. With a bureaucracy that virtually forbids adverse consequences for actions taken, the system thereby allows, in fact (through advancement, bonuses self-approved, etc) guarantees independent actions taken by career position holders. This is not peculiar to the IRS, by any means. Look at the VA-- 100% of the senior management got well-ranked evaluations. 100%. Every. Single. One.... and 65% were awarded, or awarded themselves bonuses, yet the view from you and I, Joe and Jane Taxpayer, is that the agency leadership has failed, insofar as there are DEAD PEOPLE as a result of their leadership. Then look at the EPA, BATFE, DHS, aand the rest of the career bureaucracy agencies. Joe and Jane Taxpayer are merely money makers managing to try to get by day-by-day, all while the part of the United States with the fastest rate of making millionaires is Washington, D.C. Keep these thoughts in mind over the next several months. Congress has no prosecutorial power; the DOJ will certainly not intervene, and the Supreme Court has not had a case put before them... but Congress CAN defund an agency. Congress CAN take action, and believe it or not, they do listen to the voters now and then. Ask Eric Cantor about that. He hadnt listened.
