Lets talk on issues in the elections. Plan for a better Bar. Better Health facilities: * Preferential dialysis and diagnostic facilities for lawyers and their families. * Quarterly free checkups on premises for lawyers and health seminars. Diabetes, heart, eyes, etc. * Group Health and Life Insurance. Better, more hygienic, healthier and cheaper food: * Set up a food hall. Gym facilities. Housing Society. For young lawyers and female lawyers: Reorganization of the Committee: One seat for young lawyers welfare office (with under 10 years of experience) and one for a female welfare officer (female lawyer candidate only). For lady lawyers: * Daycare facility at the Bar for working female mothers. For young lawyers: * Establishing a placement office for job placement and internships. * Scholarships for continuing education. * Reducing Bar fee * LLM and PhD fair with special discounts to be negotiated for degrees. * Professional training. Equitable distribution of advisories. For Old Lawyers: * Pension like SCBA trust. * Improving Library and Research Facilities: * More up to date books. Increase transparency and make the Bar a financially self-sustaining body: * Generate funds and place in steady income generating investments. * Audit and Management Analysis of Bar * Publish everything on website. Education: * Professional training seminars. * Refresher courses. Academic & Literary Journals. * Annual Honors for best legal academic articles. Comprehensive website with forum. Better parking facilities. Greatly increased computing and internet facilities. More sitting, dining and conference rooms. Literary Activities: * Literary Magazine * Invite famous writers and poets to the Bar * Mushaira. Entertainment: * Reduced rate tickets and passes to city activities * Law related movies. * Book fair. Travel facilities: * Hajj umra packages * Travel discounts. Onsite Travel Agent. Data collection regarding members: Update database regarding the members and particularly their blood groups, so as to allow other members to get details whenever blood is urgently required.* Collate and publish statistics about members so that bar policies may properly formulated and executed. Additional facilities on premises: NADRA portal similar to the Passport arrangement. Class action against institutions which discriminate against lawyers * Re: credit cards and loans. Legal facilities: * Centre offering mediation and arbitration facilities. * Centre for legal excellence promoting research. Institutionalise a committee to deal with cases of murdered lawyers and to protect lawyers facing threats. Bar Participation in Judges appointing process: * Judges appointment process should be transparent and public. * Names being considered by the High Court CJ should be shared with the Bar with possibility of input. * The position of bar on the appointment committee needs to be revised as per Bar resolutions. Leadership based on integrity: Under no circumstances should office holders supersede any lawyer. * Causelist of all officers of the Bar should be available to the Bar to examine. Reform of the Bar election process: * To make it cheaper and more transparent. * To ensure it is fought on issues and firm specific promises to serve the Bar. * To introduce moot of all candidates before the Bar. Continuing the good works already done: * The Civil Court-High Court shuttle. * The Passport Office. * Dispensary. For out of town lawyers: * Discounted room and board. * Intimation of cases dismissed in default. Additional construction and renovation/ upgradation of premise and dispensary. And of course ensuring Rule of Law and an independent and strong bar and a check and balance on excesses by all organs of state. And many other ideas to implement with your participation and support.
