Letter From A Pastor: Regarding Bro. Clarence Grigsby Dear Brethren, Brother Clarence Grigsby has shared with me that he is going to have to retire from full-time ministry due to his health. That of course does not mean that he is going to quit serving the Lord, but his health wont permit him to continue in the pastorate much longer. As many of you know, Brother Clarence is an extreme asthmatic, and the treatments he is on are becoming less and less effective. His plan is to try and continue at least until spring of next year if his health will let him. Please keep him and Sister Thelma in your prayers. Brethren, Brother Clarence and Sister Thelma literally have no place to go. They have given their life in service and now in the later years of their life, they find themselves without a home on this earth. They do have their children that live in various places, and they are as faithful to their parents as they can be, while at the same time taking care of their families. Clarence and Thelma plan on moving back to Lewis County, Ky. and uniting with Faith Baptist Church in Quincy where Brother Tim Underwood is the pastor. Brother Clarence started this work as a mission many years ago and he and Thelma consider this home. The Lord has laid on Brother Tims heart to provide them a home, and that is the purpose of this letter. Faith Baptist in Quincy will no doubt do all they can do, but they will need help. Brother Tim contacted me to ask if I could help get the word out to our sister churches. Brother Tim and the church at Quincy are very much burdened over this matter, as am I. It breaks my heart to see a man and a woman give their life in service all those years and then find themselves in a situation like this. Brother Clarence has said on numerous occasions that he only owns one piece of ground in this world and that is a burial plot for him and Thelma. Brethren, you know what kind of man Brother Grigsby is, so I dont have to say anything to build him up to you. Many of you have supported him faithfully over the years. He has been used of the Lord to pastor and to start several New Testament Baptist Churches. Please pray for him and Thelma that the Lord will provide them a home. Now, to the heart of the matter. The church at Quincy is determined to provide them a place to live. Land in and around Lewis County is not as expensive as land is around Lexington and other places. They feel certain that they can find a piece of land and place a good mobile on it for a reasonable price. Or, they may be able to find an existing older home at a good price. Lets give them a hand in this endeavor. Though it is hard to set a definitive amount, Brother Tim and I feel that if we could raise between $45,000 and $50,000, it would be sufficient to provide them with a modest and comfortable home. We dont have that long to raise that amount either. I would ask you to prayerfully consider a one-time love offering to help. No amount would be considered too small. Faith Baptist in Quincy will be handling the account. Brother Tim said that he would be able to give periodic updates over the coming months. You can make the checks payable to Faith Baptist Church and put in the memo that it is for the Grigsbys home. Their mailing address is P. O. Box 129 Garrison Ky. 41141. Brother Tims phone numbers are: 606-757-2372 (home), 606-541-0132 (cell). In Christ, Joe Collins
