Letter to the Editor of The London Free Press, June 28: Fontana shows hypocrisy Regarding the article Branscombe’s back in town, sparks flying (June 27). In chastising Coun. Nancy Branscombe for being away on a trip to China, Mayor Joe Fontana shows his hypocrisy. Three of his own “Fontana 8” voting block councillors have terrible attendance records. Joe Swan quit the board of health when he was publicly called out for chronic absenteeism, Denise Brown was also mostly absent on the same board. Swan was replaced by Stephen Orser who only put in a 25% attendance record. As well, Sandy White quit the London Transit Commission over advertising and Fontana was forced off the police board due to his criminal charges. For a guy who lets his Fontana 8 skip work (yet get paid), quit appointed posts, fight like kids at meetings and force taxpayers to pay for lawyers, he sure is intolerant of the councillors outside his voting block.
