Let’s Go! Negosyo Expo marks Php700k gross sales on opening day By: Anne Hazel F. Flores- City Media Bureau CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION – The Let’s Go! Negosyo Agri-Tourism and Health and Wellness Expo 2014 marked its target with estimated gross sales of Php 722,000.00 on its opening day on November 19, 2014, here. It was learned that the 127 exhibitors were mostly from the provinces of Region I, II and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and some other parts of the country like Laguna, Cavite, Palawan and Marikina, who brought their furniture, handricrafts, food items, including pasalubong and local delicacies, gifts, housewares and decors, plant and ornamentals. “This is the second year that the city government handled and organized the event to allow friendly competition amongst our businesses and promote the city as an investment area,” said Mayor Pablo C. Ortega. “Since, we are envisioning the city to be Northern Luzon’s Center for Health and Wellness by 2020, we have invited several micro, small and medium enterprises from health and wellness industries also to display and sell their products here,” Mayor Ortega added. Aside from the exhibitors, 16 barangays will also display their Income Generating Projects (IGP) products at the Bahay-Kubo located near the City Hall on the duration of the expo. These barangays have already officially launched their products in their respective barangays. “The city has given these barangays a seed capital amounting to Php 50,000.00 each to be able to produce quality products to be sold to the market,” Mr. Ramon T. Peralta, designated Local Economic Development Officer said. “Aside from the seed capital, we also help them by providing opportunities and assistance to participate in expos and exhibitions where they can sell their IGP products,” Mr. Peralta added. These barangays namely: Abut bamboo handicrafts; Bato vermicast; Baraoas meat processing; Cabaroan salabat tea (ginger tea); Cadaclan free range organic chicken; Catbangen tinapa (smoked fish); Dalumpinas Oeste pawikan (turtle) T-shirt souvenirs; Ilocanos Norte Christmas Decors; Ilocanos Sur sardines; Langcuas ube; Madayegdeg dishwashing liquid and fabric conditioner; Pacpaco peanut butter; Pias pickled papaya; San Francisco bagoong (salted fish sauce); San Vicente vinegar and Sevilla doormats, pot holders and rugs. Last year, the total gross sales amounted to Php 11.3 million for 14 days. This year’s exhibition will run from November 19 to December 14, 2014. The opening and blessing ceremonies was graced by the city officials led by Mayor Pablo C. Ortega and Vice-Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto, Hon. Francisco Emmanuel Ortega, Congressman, ABONO Partylist, Department Heads and employees of the city government and barangay officials. The Let’s Go! Negosyo Agri-Tourism and Health and Wellness Expo 2014 was formerly called Rimat ti Amianan Exhibition under the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for 10 years. PHOTO CAPTION: LETS GO!
