Liberal atheists have been putting forth maximum effort to remove religion from society, attacking the Ground Zero Cross, attempting to punish students for reading Bibles in school, and now attempting to remove Bibles from hotels on U.S. Navy bases. Click here to see an awesome video of Sarah Palin defending the Ground Zero Cross Atheists claim to be “offended” by public displays of religion, stating it’s an attempt to force them to accept a religion they don’t believe in. Of course, this isn’t true, but what’s more comical is that the very accusation they throw at people of faith, is the very thing they themselves are guilty of by trying to force their views on others. A group of angry atheists, as if there is any other kind, filed a formal complaint about religious materials being left in the rooms, calling for their removal, instead of being a decent human being and simply ignoring the Bibles or putting them in a desk drawer out of sight. According to reports from Fox News, the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) plans on acquiescing to the groups petty demands, as was specified in an email to a Navy chaplain. “The current direction is to remove all religious material from Navy Lodge guest rooms. For those Navy Lodges with religious materials currently in guest rooms, the Navy Lodge General Manager will contact the Installation Chaplain’s office who will provide guidance on the removal procedure disposition of these materials.” The complaint was lodged by the Freedom From Religion Foundation, who were very happy to hear the Navy caved to their request. “FFRF is pleased to learn that NEXCOM has taken seriously its constitutional obligation to remain neutral toward religion as a representative of our federal government. By removing Bibles from Navy-run lodges, the Navy has taken a step to ensure that it is not sending the impermissible message that Christians are favored over guests with other religious beliefs or over those guests with no religion.” So what is happening to all of those Bibles? According to a housekeeper who works at one of the lodges, they’re being shipped off to donation centers. This is simply outrageous and is the very definition of hypocrisy. Contrary to popular belief, everyone has some type of religion, whether we choose to call it that or not. Atheists believe in all things science, and this set of beliefs and values determine their worldview. By attempting to force others to recognize your worldview as the only one that is valid, which is essentially what FFRF is doing by demanding the removal of Bibles, they are saying all other belief systems are invalid, therefore the removal of religious literature from a lodge is an endorsement of their “religion,” violating the same principle they’re accusing the Navy of violating. The separation of church and state is largely misunderstood by Americans today, which has led to atheists calling for the removal of all religion from public life. This is a violation of the First Amendment. Every American has the right to exercise their beliefs, and this move by the FFRF infringes on that right.
