Libyan Court dissolves the #parliament in #Tobruk The Supreme Court has announced the dissolution of the UN-backed elected parliamentary assembly based in the eastern city of Tobruk, one of the two vying for legitimacy in the war-torn country. Proponents of the Tripoli-stationed parliament supported by Islamist-affiliated militias have gathered in the capital city to celebrate the court announcement. The decision came as the result of an MP’s request to rule on the constitutionality of the June 25 vote which led to the creation of PM Abdullah al-Thinni’s government.
