Lidia’s Celebrates 15 Years Of Italian Cooking In KC BY JOE ARCE AND DEBRA DECOSTER The full robust flavors of fresh basil, rosemary and oregano simmer in sauces atop the stove as the rich aroma of Italian cooking greets each visitor to Lidia’s Restaurant, 101 West 22nd Street, in the Crossroads District in Kansas City, Missouri. Chefs work in the spacious kitchen preparing dishes of Polipo, (Grilled Octopus), Arancine, (Lobster Risotto Balls with Fresh Corn Puree) Lasagna Bolognese (Spinach Pasta Sheets) or Spaghetti alla Trapanese, just to name a small sampling of the Italian menu. Legendary Italian chef Lidia Bastianich left her home in Italy and traveled to Kansas City in early September to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening her restaurant in the Midwest.
