EN - #GrowthGrowthGrowth and work with Russia to push Russia out of Ukraine, #TTIP, made in ... - European Council - Press conference: opening remarks by Matteo Renzi, Italian Prime Minister - 18.12.2014 - Brussels. #MatteoRenzi: Those 6 months, for us, are a great moment, and for 2 reasons: -first of all, growth and not only austerity. The legacy of Italian Presidency is first: growth, growth, growth ! Not only austerity.And the Juncker plan, the Juncker investment plan presented today at the Council, and presented to you now by President Juncker is a first step, is not the last step, in my personal point of view, but its a good first step ; -second is politics, not only bureaucracy.Politicians, not only technocrats.This is the second reason of legacy for Italian Presidency. For the first time, the decision about the President of Commission was focused on the results of election ; for the first time the President of Council is in a new State member, in the next season for Europe. I believe this choice is particularly important, but this choice is important if we invest in a different idea of Europe. Europe is the place of dream of tomorrow. Europe is the place of hope for the new generation. And for these reasons the responsibility of Donald and of Jean-Claude Juncker will be very very important for the future. Today we discussed a lot about Foreign policies, very interesting the discussion about Russia, about Ukraine, about the reasons for the situation: I believe absolutely interesting the discussion about the strategic reasons of friendship, of unity between us and between Europe and the United States ; we discussed also about the strategic role of Russia, we must absolutely work with Russia to push Russia out of Ukraine and come back to the international table of negotiation. We discussed a lot about TTIP said it very clearly. I believe, this is my personal point of view, this is no official conclusion its my personal point of view that we must absolutely insist also in the discussion about made in, because TTIP is really important, but the EP in the last April, decided with a vote to go in the direction of protection of made in, and in this moment the debate is stopped. I think some member states must give a signal of generosity, because made in is one of the most important things together with TTIP. And last, I think the discussion about the future of our economy is particularly important in this moment. Las November, with Jean-Claude we were in Brisbane (Australia), it was Herman because Donald only began on Dec. 1st, but in the G20 in Brisbane in Australia, everybody discussed about the future of economy with an incredible, an incredible, and incredible attention about the importance of growth in this particular moment. So I believe it is absolutely interesting that finally Europe decides to give more attention to expression of growth, because the pact is Pact of Stability AND GROWTH, not only Pact of Stability: Pact of Stability AND GROWTH, and I believe that with the leadership of Jean-Claude and Donald, we are in very good hands.
