Life, death, war, fatherhood. My thoughts of the morning. I’m - TopicsExpress

Life, death, war, fatherhood. My thoughts of the morning. I’m here, but lost in my head. My gut hurts, my eyes are heavy, and my heart aches. This hate, ignorance, and conflict in Israel and in other parts of the world is exhausting and so unbelievably infuriating to try to understand. HOW CAN I? Im here going about my life. I have a job, an incredible family, a home (that is bomb shelter free), and my latest worry is about what filter to put on a photo. Across a few ponds, families are being torn to shreds and what remains of a home is a bomb shelter (for those who are fortunate to have them). Who do I stand with? I stand with family, with the oppressed and the voiceless. I stand with those who are fighting for their right to exist and have a home with their livelihoods in tact while also those who are living for the day, being generalized as terrorists. I stand with my beautiful, strong cousin who fights to defend his brothers and sisters in Israel, our family, a Jewish homeland. I stand with families in Gaza who are trying to live with a blockade in impoverished conditions on top of one another under the rule of a demented, irrational leadership. This is a war that’s been ongoing through the ages, and lest we forget about the horror and tragedy happening RIGHT NOW in Russia, in militia run sections of Africa where children are being abducted, raped, shamed, and killed. The drug war in Mexico and the extreme oppression and brain washing in North Korea to name a few. Until you have children, and I am by no means an expert with a 14 month-old, you have no idea what you have in common with everyone else in the world and the hopes and dreams of their contributions to their community in the micro and humanity in macro. At the same time, you cannot fathom what you have to lose. I don’t care what your book tells you, what you believe in or what you’ve been brought up to believe. What it all comes down to is as simple as this: Now. Right now. Here. THIS life. For all we know, this is it, and we’re all here together, one time. Make it count. I truly believe the point of life is for human beings to love and be loved. HUMAN BEINGS. All of us. Gay, straight, square, handicapped….Arab and Israeli, Ukrainian and Russian, Black and White, INTERFAITH, wealthy/poor/middle-class, City and Suburb. Call me what you will. Love is love. Love is Peace. Love is life. I stand with love.
