Life in Rural India has its own charms. In the monsoon, there is less movement. In Spring, Summer and Winter, the pace differs. One common thing in the morning is to smell firewood burning as breakfast is being prepared and you hear the cows and goats with their own calls. Work in the village starts just before sun rise and ends at dusk. The wrist watch is of no importance. In Summer, one starts early as 0400 hrs and all field work ceases by 10 am to 4 Pm when it is at its hottest. Best time to build houses because of the heat. Marriages are done at this time when the benefits from a good harvest In winter, the pace slows. By 7 pm in all seasons, all retire to their homes to chat, spend time around the fireside listening to the days activities.
