Life is good! I just started working with an incredible group of high schoolers. They are rough on the outside but really sweet and talented on the inside. Some artists look at teaching as a sign that you havent made it yet but I get my best material from working with youth. The saying Those that cant do, teach should be retracted. Teaching is a serious art in and of itself. Its not a simple task especially in the public school system in the hood. It takes tact, skill, lots of love, eeeexxxtra patience and creativity. It makes my life feel work while when I feel like Ive made a difference in a childs life. so far its been one week and weve covered Hip Hop & the Prison industrial complex, songwriting structure, Self Esteem, and vocal lessons. More to come. Its official that I must start my own non profit collective for youth in the arts. Art saves lives! Period! People who are not into the arts may view it as simply entertainment but its sooooo much more than that and knowingly or unknowingly music effects every last one of us on a cellular level. Change the music, you change the people!
