Thanks Greg Peterson for sharing. “Babies with Spina Bifida should be aborted, because really what kind of life could they live?” I have heard this argument made before but the main problem with it is that it assumes that the unborn is not a valuable human being like you and I. To help the person making this argument see the problem with it, we can simply ask, “Would it be ok to kill a born person with Spina Bifida?” Most people would say no. So maybe the issue then, is not that the baby will have a hard life, but that you don’t think the unborn is a valuable human being. Also, I think Aaron Fortheringham, AKA Wheelz might have something to say about this argument as well. Wheelz was born with Spina Bifida, but he doesn’t let that stop him. Check out some of the amazing stunts that Wheelz does, while facing his fears and enjoying life. I would guess that he is happy that he was not aborted.
