Life on Earth to die out in 1 billion years: -------------------------------------------------------- All animal and plant life will disappear from the Earth in the next billion years because there will be too little carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, a new study has suggested. As Sun ages, it grows hotter, which will result in larger amount of evaporation and reactions with rainwater will take away more and more of the carbon dioxide. According to scientists, due to this the levels will decrease so low that photosynthesising plants will be unable to survive and with their loss, herbivorous animals will die out too due to starvation, and then carnivores that prey on them will also die out, Sky News reported. Eventually microbes will be all that will be living on the planet - and even for the majority of them the days will be numbered. After another billion years, the oceans will dry out completely leaving only the hardiest bugs. Astrobiologist Jack O’Malley-James, from the University of St Andrews, said that the organisms that survive will have to cope with high temperatures and intense UV radiations. The predictions are based on a computer simulation of the impact that long-term changes to the Sun will likely have on Earth
