(i DONT OWN Bleach) The Life In Our Hearts Chapter 16 --In the Clinic Orihime pushed open the door to the clinic. Cant believe Kurosaki-kun still did that. Orihime said to herself. Ulquiorra shut the door quietly, making sure not to make any noise as to startle her. Orihime sighed deeply, trying to calm herself down. Orihime. Ulquiorra called quietly. Her back was facing him, but it was obvious, going by how she was sniffing, that she was crying. Orihime wiped her tears away. Sorry. Ill go get some bandages. Orihime said. She was about to walk, but Ulquiorra, who was holding her hand, stopped her. Wait, Orihime. He whispered. Orihime faced him, tears still stuck at the corners of her eyes. Would you mind telling me why you came here? Ulquiorra asked. Okay, stupid question, and not exactly the real one Ulquiorra intended to ask. But he didnt want to give away, that he was surprised. Orihime looked down at their adjoined hands, unsure of what to say. Ulquiorra took out his other hand, and wiped the tears from her eyes, using his fingers. Tell me. He insisted. Orihime blushed at the contact, but said: I didnt want you to get hurt. Ulquiorra surprised, no longer said a word. Orihime relinquished herself from Ulquiorras hold, and went to get some bandages. Orihime gestured Ulquiorra to sit on a chair, which he did. Orihime drew a chair for herself, and sat infront of Ulquiorra. Why did you come to school so early Ulquiorra? When you know that Kurosaki-kun is probably waiting for you? Orihime asked, stripping off some bandages and sticking them against Ulquiorras bruises. Ulquiorra ignored her question. He was going early to school to avoid her, but it seems it did the opposite again. Ulquiorra sighed, making Orihime sigh as well. I now youre trying to avoid me. Orihime said quietly. Ulquiorra looked at her expressionlessly. I know you think Im a nuisance to you. Orihime added. Ulquiorra wanted to deny that, but he was afraid that he might say something, that could hurt her again. But, I still want to protect you. Orihime said firmly, making Ulquiorra quietly gasp. Everyone else in this school, doesnt understand you, or your friends. Theyre all afraid of you. Orihime explained carefully, her hands, never leaving Ulquiorras face. But Im not. Nor are Nel and the others. Were not afraid of you. We want to help you. Orihime said. Ulquiorra placed one hand over Orihimes. Why do you want to help people like us? Ulquiorra asked, actually meaning the question. To that Orihime had no answer. We just want to. Orihime said after a while. Ulquiorra looked at her intently, as if she was cipher that he was trying to solve. His eyes then trailed down to her neck, where the marks of his fingers from his recent threat to her were still visible. He reached a hand out and placed it against her neck, making Orihime blush even harder. U-Ulquiorra? Orihime said uncertainly. Im sorry.. About this. Ulquiorra said sincerely, brushing Orihimes neck with the back of his hand. Orihimes eyes brimmed with tears. But this time out of joy. Its okay. I forgive you. Orihime smiled. Ulquiorra sighed contentedly. Satisfied that he had made her smile. Lets get outta here? Orihime asked. Ulquiorra nodded his head, and the two went out together, unaware of their adjoined hands. Yay. Theyre okay again. Now Ichigo and the gang wont need to keep butting in anymore. Or should they? Stay tuned -Shirobara
