Like every great drama, our story of the promised child, destined to save the world, has twists, subtext, obstacles, triumphs, and reverses. This real, ancient drama unfolds inside multiple genres - - action, mystery, adventure, thriller, war, romance, epic - - and determines the destiny of every son and daughter of Adam and Eve. The torch passed from Abraham to his promised son, Isaac. Isaac’s wife Rebekah had twins, Esau and Jacob. Before birth, God said the younger brother, Jacob, would rule over the older brother, Esau. But Rebekah and Jacob used deception, thinking they were helping the promise to come true on their own. Now the youngest son is running for his life. Exhausted, Jacob fell into deep sleep. Watch. Every time we ruin things, God comes running towards us. “During the night, God gave him a dream. He saw a ladder set up on the earth, and its top reached to the heavens. He saw some messengers of God ascending and descending on it. ‘I am the LORD God who was worshiped by Abraham and Isaac. I will give to you and your family the land on which you are now sleeping. Your family will be a blessing to all people.’” Genesis 27:12-14 – Oasis
