Like everyone, I am shocked and moved by the death and outpouring of grief of the young cricketer, Phillip Hughes. As a parent, it is only too easy to empathise with those who have lost this young man, obviously so dearly loved, and admired by those who encountered him. My heart also goes out to that young man, Sean Abbot, who bowled that deadly ball, with no malicious intent, only the spirit of the game, in his heart. How difficult must it be for him at a mere 22 years of age, to comprehend, integrate, and live with what has happened in the context of sport. I do not in any way condemn the sport, I love cricket, but I sincerely hope that this young man receives the love understanding and support that he will need to move on, and not be haunted or vilified by this incident.
