Like most Australians Im trying to process the events of yesterday, when 800 federal and state police raided homes in NSW and Queensland, eventually charging a young man with planning to terrify the community by beheading an innocent person, who would be grabbed off the street (Martin Place, Sydney) Id just listened to a radio interview (Philip Adams) about a Muslim pacifist and British spy Noor Inayat Khan, daughter of a Sufi teacher, captured by German troops in France and interrogated for a month. Shed been one of several Muslims whod aided Jewish people to avoid capture by the Nazis. She was shot (Dachau?) - eventually awarded George Cross. Then an article in The Age where a young Yazidi woman talked with a female journalist after being raped by a gang of ISIS militants... Finally a young Muslim speaker asking the protest rally in Lakemba about how theyd feel if their home was invaded by police and their honour violated...
