But if we are the body, why arent His arms reaching? Why arent His - TopicsExpress

But if we are the body, why arent His arms reaching? Why arent His hands healing? Why arent His words teaching? The lyrics from this Casting Crowns song is heavy on my heart this Sunday. I try to only post stuff that encourages positivity and humor in the lives of you guys here on Facebook, but I need to address something that has REALLY bothered me today. More specifically, to Christians (yes, with quotations around them.) We spend a good ordeal of our time in church dedicated to helping those around us in the church and all, but what are you doing to reach out to others? The ones who NEED to see that example that Jesus was to the people? You can go to church and call yourself a Christian, but really, someone who was an Atheist, Agnostic, Buddhist, Hinduist, Satanist, etc can do the very same thing. So what sets you apart from everyone else? To be called a Christian, you ought to be a living servant for other people, accepting them as they are always, regardless of who or what they are, and not just to say that, but to TRULY LIVE that out, pointing all these things and others to Christ. Its ridiculous how many people with the tattoos, hard lives, and other things end up being the truly genuine ones with a good heart. Many of you have heard of this homeless man that sits over there by Kyoto with a sign that reads something like Homeless and in need of help. God bless. That man actually came to our church today by invitation of a really kind woman who has been trying to help him out, and it was an absolute honor to have him visit today. I didnt get a chance to speak with him as he left right after church, but I did talk to her confirming if that was him or not...while she explained his story and what happened to him, she then followed up with a it really breaks my heart that he dislikes Sundays for the fact that he loves to talk to people, but even with a church that requires people to park across the street and walk DIRECTLY. BY. HIM. and say nothing to him at all really saddens him. Its infuriating to hear this as a believer. What mission are you trying to accomplish with an attitude as such? Jesus HUNG OUT with these very people, and yet you act as though you are disgusted with them. Mr. Kelly is one of the nicer men Ive EVER met and has never asked of anything from me. And for us to automatically assume that hes some sort of low-life because of something that was truly out of his control and it putting him on the street is selfish, absurd, and unacceptable. Im not blaming this church or striking them down, but pointing out that we all have this fault, and its something we need to change. Now. We dedicate so much wasted time on belittling others, shaming those who are gay, and so much other useless things, but where in the mix did you stop for a second and think that God loves THEM just as much as He loves you? To love everybody as they are regardless of where they came from. I can promise you the quality of your life will take a 180-degree turn once you view it from that perspective. Its what God wants and EXPECTS from us as believers in Christ to make the choices that honor Him and not tear down everyone else around us. it starts with a change of heart. Thankfully, Im part of a church that isnt just stuck to the religious-must-dos but everything that we do there at Oak Park is done with passion, and is such a great church filled with so many whole-hearted people. I encourage you today, that if you dont feel like your getting anywhere with your church as far as your walk with Christ goes, try visiting somewhere else! Do something to keep that flame lit because otherwise, it will eventually dim and you lose that desire and hunger to know Christ more. Heck, visit us at Oak Park Church, but do what you must to always be growing in both mind and spirit. And dont forget to tip your waitress.
