Lillys Read-Along: Sorcerers Stone, Chapters 3&4 In chapter three, I always forget just how quickly Uncle Vernon just completely looses his marbles, shutting them all in the house, spreading marmalade on his newspapers, stopping in the middle of forests and suspension bridges to look around. In the movie it isnt portrayed as much besides the one line Daddys gone mad, hasnt he? But really it was glossed over a bit in the movies and reading it now Im like holy guacamole this guy is completely bonkers its been like one day and hes nailing the front door shut. Another thing that Im picking up on now that I didnt fully comprehend before is how Vernon and Petunia were able to raise Harry like that. It has to be some deep seated hatred of wizards to be able to look at this baby and not raise him like Dudley, or at least like normal. Petunia and Vernon had to have a conversation where they went what should Harry get for his birthday this year? Oh, Ill just give him a pair of your old socks and a coat hanger when they gave Dudley 38 presents for his birthday. Im glad things are getting to the Wizarding World side of it in captor four, the time at the Dursleys is always the worst part of the book. -Lily
