Lina Hashim is featured in the Danish Magazine Politiken in an article written by Nils Thorsen, looking at her work, No Wind - With Hijab As a teenager sat Lina Hashim anxiously waiting when foreign women were visiting her mother. What was said, she couldnt concentrate on. She just sat and waited for the transformation. When they let the hijab fall and became different kind of women. I thought they changed wildly. And I waited to see them take their scarves off, so I could see their hair. They were incredibly beautiful. How I remember it. Their hair was set, and they had spent much time on themselves., she says. Lina Hashim was born in Kuwait, but raised in Denmark. When her mother left home, she was wearing a scarf so that only a single forelock was visible. Yet she had fixed an appointment with the hairdresser every Friday. Covered by the hijab to protect against gaze of strange men, but behind the fabric barrier thrived femininity, vanity and all the many little statements about the person and creature.
