When the contest ends on January 31st 2015 we will post the winner here. We are excited to read everyones treasure stories, here are a few of ours to get the ideas and excitement flowing: A few years ago we stopped by an Estate sale ran by the owner, they had this huge interesting item we were not exactly sure what it was but knew it had to be worth more than the $75.00 they were asking for it. So we paid their asking price, brought it home and began our research. This wonderful 1600s item was a Spanish Braserio used for baptismal and we sold it for $2,500, but not before it was featured in a local newspaper with our business. This goes to show you, it really pays off to have a professional do your estate sale. We might not have known what it exactly was at first, but we could easily recognize a treasure. Another story: We did an Estate sale for Mr. Thomas ( previous owner of Highlawn Pharmacy ) whom had an extensive collection of Roseville Pottery, one of his pieces was exceptionally rare, a Della Robbia vase. We sold it to the Zanesville Museum for $5,000. It is not often you get to sell a rare piece to a museum. You can see a photo of the rare vase atop Mr. Thomass head on our web page at liquidationestatesales/past-estate-sales.html or go see it in person at the museum.
