“Lisa, you don’t know how lucky you are!” That’s what my sweet Mom used to always tell me, especially when I was feeling blue. I wish she were here to see just how lucky I’ve been this past year. In her final letter to me before she died, Mom wrote: “So proud of you! My world traveled lady!” and boy, have I traveled. This summer’s tour took me through 8 different countries and I was so blessed to have my daughter Ashley join me for 3 weeks of the tour for her first ever overseas adventure. On the business side it’s been a breakthrough year, as well, I’ve had two very successful tours, thanks to Mike and Grant at Movinmusic (UK), signed with the well-respected BIGiAM Music Management & Promotions (UK/Europe), a management team that also represents Jo Harman and Granine Duffy among others. With the help of promoters in The Netherlands and Sardegna, Italy, I have also been able to establish and develop a fan base in those countries. In the wake of this success, 2015 promises to open up even more opportunities throughout Europe. Through the love and support of some very good friends, family, and fans who funded a successful $30.000-plus Kickstarter campaign, my first studio album, I’m Changing, has not only been resurrected, but has also been getting some incredible reviews and radio play all over the world and just recently has been featured on BB King’s Bluesville radio show on Sirius XM. Reviews of the album have been over the top favorable and have ranged from the specialty blues publications online and in print; to front-page review and interview in No Depression; and an editor’s pick in the most famous of all jazz publications, Downbeat. On a personal note, I was encouraged that most of these reviews recognized I’m Changing as a roots album incorporating various styles including the blues. So thankful to all of you who allow me allow me to do what I love and in that pursuit, see the world and meet fascinating people. Look for more new music and exciting projects in the coming year along with an expanded touring schedule. Happy New Year everybody! Much love, Lisa Mills Photo: Gianfilippo Masserano
