Listen to the song and practice using COMPARATIVES: COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES When we talk about two things, we can compare them. We can see if they are the same or different. Perhaps they are the same in some ways and different in other ways. We can use comparative adjectives to describe the differences. We can use comparative adjectives when talking about two things (not three or more things). There are two ways to form a comperative adjective: • short adjectives: add -er – larger, smaller, faster, harder • long adjectives (more than two syllables): use more – more beautiful, more interesting NOTE: We also usually add THAN between the words we are comparing: she is more beautiful than her sister. This car is older than mine. Exceptions: The following adjectives have irregular forms: • good → better • bad → worse • far → further/farther
