Listening in, being listened upon. The Conversation (74) seems hardly dated in the post-NSA disclosures era, save for its more primitive reliance on old-fashioned human surveillance and analog spy devices versus digital/comptuer technology-only driven focus, as today. Harry Caul (Gene Hackman) gets a hairy call, all but dissolving his remnant illusion that he maintains his own privacy, even as he is paid to destroy others sense of it. Now, even the Harry Cauls arent needed, the ultimate Luddite replacement fear made reality. ;)
