Listening to CBC radio and feeling annoyed that there is a scorer commenting on the math curriculum changes. I appreciate that she is also a parent - but seriously CBC you couldnt find a teacher to talk too. I appreciate that adding memorizing times tables to the math curriculum isnt a bad idea but it does not work for all kids. We need to include memorization as well as some skill based methods in math instruction. There is room for both. Lets not throw the baby out with the bath water.
