Listening to.....Joy Division-Atmosphere ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Recorded a couple of months to the death of lead singer Ian Curtis & released in the aftermath. This song features on the soundtracks to the films 24 Hour Party People & Control and is my alltime favourite song by Joy Division. This dreamy soundscape attained an extra poignancy due to suicide of the tragic Ian Curtis & remains a favourite at funerals 34 years after its release. This music video was actually filmed in 1988 by visual artist Anton Corbijn who is best known for his work with Depeche Mode & later went on to direct the 2007 film biopic Control. The B-Side for Atmosphere was another classic in the form of Dead Souls, while some of my other favourites by the band include Shes Lost Control, Transmission, Shadowplay & their most popular song Love Will Tear Us Apart. Atmosphere is the sound of the beautiful cremation of a band & the first tones of the electronic phoenix that rose from the flames in the form of the mighty New Order.
