Listening to the Word: God’s Purposes 2 Samuel - TopicsExpress

Listening to the Word: God’s Purposes 2 Samuel 17:14 “…the Lord had determined to frustrate the good advice of Ahithophel in order to bring disaster on Absalom.” When our actions, attitudes or choices in life make God our enemy, no amount of good advice or human counsel will help us. God was determined to bring disaster on Absalom. Absalom’s pride, rebellion and bitterness were bringing disaster on himself. Those attitudes were all hidden behind a very attractive and seemingly genuine public persona. Absalom stole the hearts of the people away from David their king, but he could not steal God’s heart. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. Absalom carried rebellion and murder in his heart and didn’t respect the authority that God had given his father David. Wise decision-making begins with obeying God’s Word and having a heart that God can bless. Father God, I humble myself before you and seek your will and your ways for your glory this day.
