Listening to the news on and off today, I have been struck by how many times some variation of this phrase has been used: Canadians are shocked by today’s attack on Parliament, because they are a peaceful nation.” Well, I am shocked how unprepared people are to deal with real life. Surely, surely, surely this will be a wake up call for us all. The terrorists don’t care about who is peaceful and who is not. They are out to fulfill their dream of a totally Islamic state. If you are not Islamic, they are after you. It’s that simple. Eventually all non-muslims will be the enemy. It is just a matter of time until they get to your neck of the woods. If you don’t understand this, if WE don’t come to understand this, then this war will be lost for sure. Because this is a war - a slow burn, low grade war that is slowly gaining more and more momentum. Hitler and his ilk started out much this way - a small group of disgruntled young men. Look how many people died and how many countries were destroyed and how the world shifted because of that one man. (Three under 18-year-old American girls were stopped in Germany today, on their way to join ISIS in Syria. How did they get hooked up with that? ISIS is actively recruiting young men and women in America to come to Syria and join them in the fight. The fact that they would go is truly, simply terrifying in its premise.)
