Literary exchanges must to bridge gap between two Kashmirs: Nasrullah Literary exchanges must to bridge gap between two Kashmirs: Nasrullah Waheed Yaseen Agence India Press November 29, 2010 Srinagar: Noted poet and writer from Pakistan administered Kashmir, Dr. Nasrullah Khan Nasir Monday said literary interactions between the people of both sides to bridge the gap that has been created by Line of Control, separating Indian Kashmir from Muzzafarabad. For me the LOC is the worst thing to have happened to the people of Kashmir living on both sides. If there is an exchange of ideas and literary work between the writers, poet and critics of two Kashmir, people would be able to understand merits and demerits of the various things. For that we should organize various literary conferences, Nasrullah said. He was speaking at a function –‘Dr Nasrullah Khan se eik mulaqat- organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages in collaboration with Gulistan-i-Adab, Uri. The literary function held between the two sides, Nasrullah believed, would make governments of both India and Pakistan acquainted with what pain and agony people were going through because of the separation. While talking to Agence India Press correspondent he said, we should take a cue from the fact that merger of East and West Germany was helped by the conduct of various exchanges between the literary figures of East Germany and West Germany. Nasrullah felt that Indian Kashmir was far ahead of Pakistan Kashmir when it comes to preservation of literary work. Renowned writer, Ghulam Nabi Khayal, on the occasion, castigated the successive state governments saying that his proposal to the government to send a nine member team comprising top poets and writers to Muzzafarabad wasnt heeded by the government. When bus between Srinagar and Muzzafarabad was started I sent a proposal to the government to send literary figures to Muzzafarabad, till now I have got no answer from the government, Khayal said adding that there were lots of factual errors in the literal work of writers based in Muzzafarabad. Secretary, Cultural Academy, Zafar Iqbal Manhas said that it was time for writers and poets from both Kashmir to put things in historical perspective. He added that his Academy wad doing all it could to have such functions in the future. (AIP) Copyright © 2010 AIPTV.
