Little reality check tonight reminding me (and now others) exactly what our law enforcement community faces on a regular basis... While driving down Front St heading back into the office tonight, I see a lot of Blue, lighting up the sky. As I get closer, its obvious theres a police situation near the 3rd St split. I flip around and go around the block, coming back out to Front from 3rd and bam- 3 City PD vehicles blocking the entire road performing a felony stop on a light colored vehicle with multiple occupants. One suspect is already against a police car, another suspect with hands on his head is slowly backing up to the officer calling out directions, and another officer using the car door for cover while his 40 is trained on the perp backing up. Naturally I keep right on driving; though believe it or not, some moron heading towards them on Front decided that even though all of Front St is blocked, the police left just enough room form them to swerve around the cruisers and still drive past them...shm. Just a quick reminder how dangerous these men and women have it on a daily basis- even here in little ole Monroe! Lord only knows what the issue was...but, based on what I witnessed while driving by, it could have been MUCH worse. For any of you friends wondering why I support and praise Law Enforcement as much as I try to, the main reason is THEY DESERVE IT! Sure, Ive watched the news and see all the crazy s**t going on just like the rest of you; but, there are far too many people with great integrity that pin their badge on daily kissing their loved ones good-bye not knowing if it may be the last time. Ive done charity rides with many of them and they are good people! Ive been on accident scenes with many of them and they are professional people! Im buddies with many of them and they are dependable people! I have 2 brothers in law (1 Wayne Co and 1 in the D) that thankfully made it safely through their careers in LE- oh, the stories they could tell...And last and most importantly as a few of you may already know- my Grandfather was a Sheriffs Deputy and was one of too many that didnt make it home from a shift. Grandpa Kinsey was shot and killed a month before his son (my dad) was born. My dad never met his dad. I never met my grandpa. My dad lived a very hard childhood with the family being split up due to no financial help back then. So hats off the City of Monroe PD I witnessed tonight! Hats off to all Law Enforcement keeping Monroe County (and everywhere in the nation) safe while so many people want to 2nd guess any of your actions after the fact. Hey, if we could see how everything in life played out and then live through it, things would be easier and a bit more perfect now wouldnt they. But thats not the way it works. So THANK YOU- my family and I appreciate everything you do! May God Bless each and every one of you that wears a badge and may He keep you safe while you make the best decisions possible that will allow YOU to return home at the end of your shift!
