Liverpool FC Defense. Topical & Controversial..!!! Yes, its a topical & controversial issue to say the least. I seem to agree with most fans that our defense needs some rework. 1 notable thing is lack of LEADERSHIP at the back..esp from our 2 centre-backs... Skrtel & Sakho!! 1 notable e.g is the consolation Mutch goal against Cardiff City. A simple backpost header from a lofted Peter Whittingham free kick bypassed 12 players crowding the goalmouth. Mutch was left completely unmarked at the far post. Why did this happen? Skrtel & Sakho’s do hand gestures thru the 12 seconds between Whittingham placing the ball for the free kick and Mutch nodding it in. A clear lack of leadership in my view. Liverpool FC missed Jamie Carragher. If he was in, i bet LFC could have saved a dozen points. My questions are; 1.Did Cara took his retirement too early & affected our transition? 2.Is BR not failing us by not appointing a defensive kingpin or leader at the back? 3.Is this not increasingly becoming a problem for all top-level EPL football clubs, Arsenal, City, Man United & Chelsea? 4.Is Skrtel & Sakhos inability to communicate defensive instructions to fellow teammates costing Liverpool points than any other combinations?
