Liverpool morning news: Carra says title win would be one of great PL achievements A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning. Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has said that if the Reds win the Premier League title this season, it would rank as one of the greatest achievements in Premier League history. The last side to go from seventh then become champions was Everton, and Carragher told the Liverpool Echo that in Brendan Rodgers, that kind of success couldn’t happen to a nicer person. He said: “To be the man who takes Liverpool from seventh to champions would mean Rodgers will always be remembered. “He’s a great coach and man-manager and the way he flips and changes his side. If you get beat doing that then people will say you are messing about with the team but when you win, they say you’re a great tactician.” The captain of the under-21 side Lloyd Jones has talked about his experiences of training with the first team squad at Melwood, and the defender said he gets on ‘OK’ up against Luis Suarez. He’s quoted in the Liverpool Echo, saying: “It gives you a taste of what it’s like to be a player. It’s a lot quicker, although we try to set the same standards here as well. “But obviously they are all top class players, but all you can do is improve by playing with and against them.” Liverpool’s under-21 side will go up against fierce rivals Manchester United in their play-off match at Anfield tomorrow evening. Jones has said he hopes it goes better than last season, where United beat Liverpool at the same stage. He said: “This is a big game for me, and for the team. Hopefully this one will go a bit better!” How big an achievement would it be if Liverpool were to win the league title?
