“Living Sacrifice” Binhi sang Pagtuo August 5, 2013 Dear Friends, Greetings! We are happy to inform you that as of last count of decision slips, there are 973 students that accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior last Christ Emphasis Week on July 22-27, 2013. Please help us pray that these students will grow in their spiritual life as CPU continues to nurture and disciple them. Another scripture passage used during the CEW was Romans 12:1-2. Paul challenges Christians to become “living sacrifices.” To be a living sacrifice, the passage is telling us three things: First, we need to give God our bodies (v. 1). Since our bodies now belong to God, we should use it not for sinful pleasures and purposes, but God’s glory. The body of a Christian is now the temple of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor 6:19-20). We must exalt God through our body as Philippians 1:20-21 tells us “to live is Christ.” Second, we must give God our mind (v. 2a). The world is controlling our minds if we are not conscious of it. But God wants to transform our mind. The word “transform” means “metamorphosis.” One quotation says, “If the world controls your thinking, you are a conformer. If God controls your thinking, you are a transformer.” Third, we must give God our will (v. 2b). It is true that the mind controls the body, and the will controls the mind. We are mistaken if we think that we can control the will through “positive thinking” or sheer “willpower.” We need to surrender our wills to God. As Jesus Christ taught us to pray – “Not my will, but Thy will be done.” May God bless us all! Sincerely, Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on
