Living in #Hangzhou Regulation bans private clubs in parks The Standing Committee of the Hangzhou Peoples Congress approved a revised Hangzhou Park Management Regulation on August 29, banning private clubs in parks across the city. All business areas in public parks should open to public, and a fine of 2,000 yuan (US$328) to 10,000 yuan will be imposed on violators, according to the revised regulation. Hangzhou government has ordered 30 high-end clubs in West Lake parks to close and shut down 56 private clubs across the city to curb extravagance, corruption and power abuse among officials. The clubs include Xihuhui in West Lake, known for luxurious decorations, expensive meals and services. The move targets to close all high-end clubs in West Lake and other historical cultural sites so that scenic spots are used primarily by locals and tourists.
