Local Fire Departments respond to St. Amant Structure Fire Friday, November 28, at 5:00 am, the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department and Fire Response Boat responded to a working structure fire on River Highlands in St. Amant. The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by the Sorrento, 7th District, Galvez-Lake and Livingston Fire District 8 and 9 Departments. A water supply was established from the Diversion Canal with the St. Amant Fire Response Boat. The deck gun on the Emergency Response boat was used to protect homes near the structure fire. The St. Amant home was a total loss and the fire is still under investigation. The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department Fire Response Boat was recently purchased through private and industrial funds to help protect homes near the Diversion Canal areas and waterways.
