Local News Highlights: President Hifikepunye Pohamba has appealed to political party leaders in Lesotho to refrain from any action or statement that may undermine peace and stability in that country. The President was in Lesotho in his capacity as the Chairperson of the SADC organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation. Lesotho is engulfed in a political misunderstanding following a fall out among the three coalition members who formed a government after the 2012 elections failed to produce a clear winner. The President was thus there to listen and advise on the way forward. Namibias Chief of Naval Operations has described the visit of the 16-th Chinese Escort Fleet to the Port of Walvis Bay as a success. Rear Admiral Sinskus Nghipandwa says both the Chinese and Namibian navies conducted joint naval drills at Walvis Bay, which he believes would play an active role in enhancing understanding and friendship between the two forces. He made the remarks on the sidelines of a reception hosted by the Chinese navy on board its vessel at Walvis Bay on Thursday night. DTA of Namibia Parliamentarian Philemon Moongo says Namibia should follow the SADC Protocol on Elections which emphasizes tolerance and fairness during election process. Moongo says this will prevent those political party supporters who have in the past declared certain areas as no go zones for other parties which is against the SADC agreements on elections. The DTA MP was posting a verbal question to Prime Minister Hage Geingob during the National Assembly session on Wednesday. (All NBC - NBC News)
